「オプス・セクティレ」展は、ルネサンスから欧州バロック期にいたる硬石象嵌の作品、およびアルゴリズムと人工知能によって生み出された革新的な作品、あわせて約100点を一堂に集める。

対峙し、並置され、あるいは混ざり合いながら、硬石はフランスのコレクティブ aurèce vettier(2019年にPaul Mouginotによって設立)の作品と共鳴し、力強い現代的対話を生み出す。Gismondiギャラリーと Darmo に共通する野心は、ファインアートと装飾芸術、人間の知性と人工知能を響き合わせ、古典芸術の熟練の技と現代芸術の革新性を組み合わせることで、あらゆる芸術制作における技術と創造性の不可欠な役割を浮き彫りにすることにある。

新しいメディウムの先駆者として、aurèce vettier と象嵌師たちは、卓越した技術、大胆さ、そして感性を分かち合っている。当時の慣習に反し、これらのハイブリッドな実践は、手元にある最良の道具を用いて現実に迫ろうとする試みとして立ち現れる。19世紀に哲学者オーギュスト・コントが、科学の進歩はあらゆる神学的信念や形而上学的説明を不可避的に置き換えると既に断言していたとしても、これらの先進的な実践の出会いは、技術の進歩とそれに伴う身振りが、私たちの世界に対する感覚的かつ探求的な理解に奉仕しうることを改めて示している。手作業によるものであれ、数学的なものであれ、このコレクティブが磨き上げてきたノウハウは、古代ギリシャに由来し仕事の質を意味する「テクネー(technè)」という概念を想起させる。職人である象嵌師が硬石という生の素材を切り出す一方で、aurèce vettier は人工知能によって生み出される非物質的な素材を切り出しているのである。
