MIRABIL-IA探索了人工智能发展给艺术创作带来的深刻变革。展览超越了将人工智能主要视为创造力威胁的叙事框架,聚焦于那些活跃在艺术、科学与技术交汇处的艺术家,他们运用人工智能生成意想不到的关联、新的视觉语言以及感知世界的另类方式。

展览汇集了视觉、动态影像与声音作品,其中人工智能成为一种全新惊奇感的源泉。通过陌生的组合方式,以及有时略显怪异的形式,参展艺术家们提出了偏离我们既有现实的诗意世界,展示了计算系统如何能够拓展创作过程,而非仅仅是将其自动化。

MIRABIL-IA的核心理念在于:生成式人工智能的潜在空间可以被理解为历史上珍奇柜的当代对应物——那些容纳着无数形式、片段、类别与世界表征的庞大宝库。珍奇柜诞生于文艺复兴时期,并在整个十八世纪蓬勃发展,汇集了来自动物、植物与矿物界的标本,试图捕捉自然的多样性与奇异性。

为MIRABIL-IA精心挑选的作品,呼应了这种收集、组合与重新分类形式的传统。借助人工智能,the artists探索了观察自然、组织知识与创造混合实体的新方式——延续着一条从早期自然奇珍收藏,到安德烈·布勒东(André Breton)的拼贴画作与约瑟夫·康奈尔(Joseph Cornell)的盒子艺术这一复合想象谱系的脉络。

本展览作为第11届数码艺术双年展(Bains Numériques #11)的一部分呈现。
