la luce non vede Hotel Mediterraneo, Jesolo

The group show by Vittoria Gerardi and aurèce vettier, curated by Darmo at the Hotel Mediterraneo in Jesolo is the hotel's first contemporary art commission, staged across its gardens, indoor spaces and selected suites, and takes its title from the paradox of vision and invisibility.

aurèce vettier presents sixteen paintings from the series le travail des rêves, a unique Aubusson tapestry, and a group of AI-generated botanical forms cast in bronze. These impossible plants, translated from data into matter, extend the studio's ongoing work between memory, dreams and fiction, and its movement between digital speculation and traditional technique.

Vittoria Gerardi presents works from her long-running Latenza project, a study of invisibility, transformation and the in-between states of photographic perception: a series of Latenza boxes (wood, enamel, unfixed photographic images), fused glass plates, a new large bronze, and a group of small bronzes titled Gliommeri, alongside her Latenza publication (M Editions) and the book Lexicòn (Paris Delos). Her Latenza boxes hold the latent image, the photographic phase where visibility and invisibility coexist: each is a Schrödinger-like device, indeterminate unless opened. The Gliommeri, sculptural knots cast in bronze, make the entanglement of experience visible.

The exhibition grows out of a long-distance friendship between the two artists. As Gerardi puts it: "We met in a latent dimension... our works have always intertwined from afar, and separated from near. When I began Latenza, aurèce vettier introduced me to physics. When he started sculpting his impossible plants, I followed him to the foundry. That's where I began my Gliommeri."

More than a meeting of two practices, the show is a reflection on fiction, nature and the invisible architectures that shape perception, through code, chemistry, memory or bronze. From speculative botany to unfixed images, la luce non vede proposes a visual ecology rooted in latency, light and the unknowable.

Curated by Darmo, the exhibition opens a long-term programme of contemporary art commissions at the Hotel Mediterraneo, in dialogue with the landscape of the Venetian lagoon.
